so i’m looking at the jared followill tag

and there’s a new online ‘novel’/meme called ‘settle the fuck down.’ there’s a separate tumblr for it and the description is as follows: “A online novel about Jared Followill, and how us, his fans, want him to settle down with a nice lady. No skanks, no hookers, just a nice woman.” you can imagine the amount of side-eyeing i am doing right now. not only do we have to slut-shame other women jared might be seeing, but we have to basically shame jared, as well, for not settling down and for not being with a “nice” woman. what constitutes a “nice” woman? how much sex does a woman have to have to be considered a “skank” or a “hooker”? what makes a woman none of us know worthy or unworthy of our approval? i’m tired of this shaming nonsense. really, really tired of it. and if anyone sees this, i’m sure this post will get eyerolls and people will say i take things to seriously or i’m uptight or i’m a bitch (because using sexism to dismiss sexism is effective or something), but i don’t care right now. i’m used to people doing that stuff to me anymore.

man, i get it not liking kol’s music because everyone’s taste is different and everything, but the way he goes about putting them down is really shitty. whether or not jared has issues being in the band because of their sound, you - as someone who isn’t jared and isn’t part of that band - aren’t entitled to use him to drag that band’s name through the mud in the media. and i know the guys in kol aren’t innocent of bad-mouthing another band during an interview, but i’ve never seen any of them do that like this.
tbh i wish bands would stop bad-mouthing each other in interviews in general because most of the time it’s tacky. if you’re not using that moment to call out so-and-so for fucked up -ist behavior then quite frankly i don’t wanna hear about it. i do not care how much you think each other suck at music, okay?

This next song is called The Immortals. This is one of the fastest songs I’ve ever written, I wrote these lyrics in about 15 minutes because I was pretty touched. I’d had lunch with a friend and he kinda opened up to me about some personal stuff in his life and his real brave and it made me feel first of all, proud that I was the person that he said it to, and also made me think about, you know, if in the future, if I’m blessed enough to have children that I wanna make sure that they never have to be scared to tell me anything or to be the person that they are…and I remember going home after that lunch and I picked up my guitar and I was playing and I looked in the mirror and as I was looking in the mirror it just all hit me and it was like it flooded over me and I said “find out what you are face to face” and I was looking at my face…and it’s a song that before I had written the lyrics it kinda felt like a fun, dancy, corky song but after we had the song complete it really meant a lot and I think a lot of people can relate to it and I hope you guys like it and I hope one day you have that moment that I had, where you can actually be honest with yourself and tell the people around you to be honest with themselves and be honest with you.
